The Ethical Code of
Roerich's Movements

I. Preamble

The Roerich's Movement (RM) is the public - cultural international movement that has a spiritual - educational character. The RM has following aims:

• assistance to spiritual development of the people;
• strengthening and development of spiritual bases of mankind;
• development of intercultural dialogue and social partnership in all spheres of a public life;
• development of Ethics, Science, Education and Spiritual Culture in the name of humanly, ecologically social progress of mankind.

The principles and ideas of the Teaching of Alive Ethics are put in the basis of this Ethical Code.

This Ethical Code is directed on regulation of social attitudes between subjects (collective and individual) of the Roerich's Movements.

Main aims of creation of this Ethics Code:

• definition of ethical principles of activity of subjects of the RM;
• strengthening and development of free cultural cooperation, social partnership and meaningful dialogue between subjects of the RM.

II. Items of the Ethical Code

1. Activity of any subject of the RM is obliged to be based on principles of tolerance and respect for belief of other people, if such beliefs are not antihuman. Each subjects of the RM has a right of a free choice of philosophical, religious, scientific, political and other belief that conformable to the purposes and spirit of the Teaching of Alive Ethics. The respect for individual opinion and freedom of will of the people is firm ethical value of subjects of RM.

2. Any subjects of the RM have no right to apply for absolute true (ethical, philosophical, scientific, etc.) and to put pressure upon other subjects of RM.

3. Each Subjects of RM can participate in popularization of ideas of the Teaching of Alive Ethics in the society. At the same time, they should not do a missionary working and impose to the society her belief.

4. The private life of subjects of RM is free and any subjects of RM must be no to interfere in the private life of other subjects of the RM. Social freedom of subjects of the RM go out if the social rights and freedom go out too.

5. Creation of the common program of activity or actions of two or more subjects of RM can be the act of their good will only.

6. By the decision of controversial issues the Subjects of RM cannot use any forms of discredit of opponents, groundless charges, aggression and violence. All controversial issues should be solved in a course of benevolent negotiations and discussions or within the framework of the current legislation.

7. Each subjects of RM must chose self a spiritually authority or other import philosophical source and should not impose her choice to other subjects of RM.

8. Internal mutual relations and a subordination any Roerrich's organizations are defined by their authorized documents. The principle of spiritual Hierarchy that has been confirmed in the Teaching of Alive Ethics cannot be reduced to a principle of the administration-managerial control.

9. The spiritual heritage of Roerich's family as the greatest cultural value belongs to all mankind. Any Roerich's Organization have no right to monopolize this heritage and use it in the mercenary purposes.

10. All participants of the Roerich's Movement are obliged to be guided in their ideas, words and actions from principles of General Welfare, cooperation, validity, and also other ethical ideas and the positions that are confirmed by spiritual Teaching of Alive Ethics.

The idea of creation of Ethical Code of the Roerich's Movement has appeared last decade XX centuries among the European and Russian adherents of the Teaching of Alive Ethics. Intensive development of Roerich's Movement has revealed sharp necessity of definition the principles of interaction between Roerich's organizations, and other subjects of the public life too. It is obvious, that these principles should have the obvious ethical dominant that confirmed by all spiritual philosophy of Roerich's family and their Teachers.

The ethical Code cannot automatically solve all problems in the Roerich's Movement. However must be existence a social - ethical constitution of followers of Alive Ethics. The Ethical Code has first of all a educational and self-disciplinary and symbolical value for each man that is the followers of Alive Ethics. At the same time, the Ethical Code is called to show to all society the ideological aims of Roerich's Movement. This humanly and culturally aims of Roerich's Movement must be clear and doubtless for all people.

The text of Ethical Code of Roerich's Movement has been developed in 2002 in Russia by group of followers of the Teaching of Alive Ethics which have wished to remain unknown.

Procedure of connection to this Ethical Code does not assume formal signing of any documents and is internal decision of the Roerich's organization, group or the one man. Heads of several websites will conduct the constant registry of subjects of the Roerich's Movement which support this Ethical Code.
